Leith Jewellery Studios is a new and vibrant creative safe space. It welcomes all levels of makers, jewellers, hobbyists, beginners and enthusiasts. LJS is a home to a family of makers who share their knowledge and skills while inspiring each other and benefiting from the creative vibe within the studios.

Leith Jewellery Studios has evolved from The Precious Metals Workshop which was established in 2010 by goldsmith Ian Nicholson, who has moved on to a new chapter in his life.

We have two studios housing a total of 15 workbenches with a vast variety of tools and equipment. Our makers in residence come from many different artistic and personal backgrounds which brings a large range of disciplines and experiences to the studios. 

We are located in Edinburgh’s creative Out of the Blue Drill Hall, which has its own public cafe.

LJS run evening classes and day workshops which cater for all levels of jewellery making. Our courses are mainly run by some of our makers in residence but often feature visiting jewellers to add to the extensive range of skills and techniques we teach. The classes we offer suit everyone and we welcome everyone from absolute beginners to experienced makers looking to learn new skills and techniques.
